Belgium
Belgian authorities describe illegal streaming sites and IPTV services as unlawful and say many such sites have been blocked. Streaming copyrighted content from an unauthorized pirate service is not treated as lawful.
Finland
Finland’s Copyright Act only permits temporary copies that enable transmission or another lawful use of a work. Streaming from an unlawful source is therefore not covered by the temporary-copy exception reviewed here.
France
Streaming films or other cultural content from an unauthorised source is treated by the French anti piracy framework as illicit access rather than a lawful alternative to licensed services.
Norway
Norway’s official copyright materials say making material available for streaming without clearance violates the Copyright Act, and the government has also described illegal-source streaming as unlawful.
Philippines
The Philippines treats online movie piracy as copyright infringement. IPOPHL’s official site-blocking action against major piracy domains states that distributing or accessing infringing movie content through illegal streaming sites or direct downloads violates the Intellectual Property Code.
Uganda
Uganda Registration Services Bureau states that it is illegal to use films and other protected works without the explicit permission of the copyright owner or representative, which does not support using unlicensed pirate streams.
United Kingdom
UK government guidance treats access to films and other content from illegal streaming sources as part of piracy and says consumers using illegal sources may be committing a crime.
Switzerland
Switzerland’s official copyright guidance says streaming works for private use is allowed by law, including from illegal sources, under the private-use exception.
